2022-2023 Scholarship Recipient, Nur Aga Rajaie

Nur Aga Rajaie is our second recipient of the Maleiha Carino Scholarship!

Nur Aga and his family fled Afghanistan in 2015 to escape the roughness of the Taliban and eventually found themselves in a detention center in Bali. While there, the Nur Aga was unable to communicate with anyone beyond other Afghan immigrants, and his lack of educational exposure and limited knowledge of the world left him with many unanswered questions.

With the discovery of free WIFI and access to Google, YouTube, and Wikipedia, Nur Aga and his brothers began to expand their knowledge and education. The experience in the detention center was difficult, but it fundamentally changed how Nur Aga learned and acquired knowledge. Today, the Nur Aga hopes to inspire others to realize the importance of the hunger for education.

Message from Nur Aga:

"Hi, I'm Nur Aga Rajaie and I'm from Afghanistan. Painting and cooking are two of my favorite hobbies, which I enjoy doing in my free time. My passion lies in the fields of Biology and Psychology as I love learning about the human body and the reasons behind our behaviors.

"I firmly believe that the world would be a better place If every pain was replaced with a smile"

In the future, I aspire to become an orthodontist and help people achieve the smile they deserve, and ultimately, find happiness in their lives. I firmly believe that the world would be a better place if every pain was replaced with a smile"

Nur Aga is presented the scholarship award with MCF Executive Director, Omeed Adham Sindy and MCF Board Vice President, Jas'r Carino
